A Letter for Former ABQ HealthPartners heart patients.

The departure of the ABQ health partners from the Lovelace health plan has left many of you uncertain as to where you will receive your heart care. The board certified cardiologist and cardiovascular surgeons at the New Mexico Heart Institute are pleased to be able to step forward to provide your cardiovascular care. We want to assure you prompt access to our 39 providers so that your heart care is not interrupted.

We recognize that changing doctors especially cardiologists is difficult and upsetting and we want to make your transition as easy as possible. We want to assure you that the NMHI has the capacity and expertise to accommodate your needs and provide a welcoming home for you.

Our schedulers are standing by at (505) 841-1000 or (800) 715-6644 to make your appointment. Below we have listed those problems that need immediate attention and we will assure you an early appointment.

1. Coumadin Clinic: If you are taking Coumadin or warfarin for a cardiac related problem, we can immediately take over the responsibility for regulating your anticoagulation.

2. Patients with pacemakers and defibrillators: It is important that we have the opportunity to meet with you and obtain the details of your pacemaker or defibrillator.

3. If you had a heart procedure or were recently discharged from the hospital for a heart problem, you should have an early appointment.
